The Chinese cloisonnés made with cooper come directly from the most ancient techniques like the "champlevé" wichch consisting in digging a cavity and then feeling it with enamel.

Chinese Cloisonné from the MING period are famous. They Use small curved cooper strips to maintain the enameland, they could produce quicker, using less expensive materials than with the old technique of champlevé.

Europeans bought  to Chinese craftsmen the “Painted enamelled” which allowed for to the BEJING school and the GUANGZHOU school to be appreciated.

Japanese artists developed artifacts inspired by Chinese production  (it is often difficult to say if the origin of certain pieces are indeed Chinese or Japanese) and a special and original art with  painted enamal and cloisonné on the same piece.
